Editorial Policy

Our standards for independence, source quality, corrections, and separation between editorial and commercial decisions.

Last updated: 28 June 2026

Editorial independence

UK Fee Comparison operates independently of the platforms it covers. No investment platform has any editorial input into our fee data, comparison tables, articles, or rankings.

Platforms are not invited to review or approve content before publication. Platforms do not fund, commission, or have any influence over editorial decisions.

This site is not part of a wider financial services firm, broker, or fund manager. It does not have a group structure that creates indirect interests in any platform's performance.

Source standards

Every fee figure published on this site must meet the following requirements:

  1. Primary source only. Fee data is sourced directly from the platform's own published charges page. We do not use data from other comparison websites, affiliate networks, price aggregators, or press releases as a primary source.
  2. URL recorded. The source URL is recorded alongside the data at the time of verification.
  3. Date recorded. The date of verification is recorded and displayed alongside the data.
  4. Status assigned. Data is assigned VERIFIED or NEEDS_VERIFICATION status based on whether primary source confirmation was achieved. See Methodology for detail.

We do not publish fee figures that we cannot trace to a primary source, except where clearly labelled as NEEDS_VERIFICATION with an explanation of why verification was not achieved.

How factual uncertainty is shown

We distinguish two levels of data quality explicitly in our published content:

VERIFIED

Confirmed from the platform's own published charges page on the date shown. Source URL recorded.

~ NEEDS_VERIFICATION

Not yet independently confirmed from primary source. Treat with caution. Verify directly with the platform before relying on this figure.

We do not present data as definitive where we have uncertainty about it. We do not use hedging language in place of a clear status label. We do not omit uncertain data — we show it with the appropriate label, because an uncertain figure with a clear warning is more useful than no figure at all.

Where we cannot determine the correct figure and cannot show a clearly labelled estimate, we show a dash (—) and note that the data is not available.

Correction process

When we discover an error in published data — whether from our own review, a reader query, or a platform fee change — we follow this process:

  1. Correct the data promptly. We update the affected table or article with the correct figure as soon as practicable after the error is identified.
  2. Log the correction publicly. All corrections are logged in the Fee Accuracy Audit correction log, with the date of correction and a brief description of what changed.
  3. Distinguish error types. We note whether the change represents a platform fee change or a correction of our own error. We do not conflate the two.
  4. Update verification dates. The verification date is updated to reflect when the corrected figure was re-confirmed.
  5. No silent updates. We do not update data without logging the change. The correction log is a permanent record.

Readers who identify an error can email hello@ukfeecomparison.co.uk or use the contact page. Include the platform name, the fee page URL, and the correction you believe is required. All queries will be reviewed and, where a correction is warranted, will be processed and logged.

Affiliate and commercial separation

UK Fee Comparison may in future earn referral fees from platforms via affiliate programmes. The following rules govern how this interacts with editorial content:

  • The presence or absence of an affiliate relationship does not determine whether a platform is included in our comparison.
  • Affiliate relationships do not determine ranking position, table order (beyond fee-based ordering), editorial prominence, or narrative framing.
  • Commercial relationships are handled separately from all editorial decisions. The decision to include a platform and how to present its fee data is made on the same basis regardless of commercial status.
  • All active affiliate relationships are disclosed on the Affiliate Disclosure page and on each page where an affiliate link appears.

At the time of this policy's publication, no affiliate relationships are active and no affiliate links are live on this site.

No paid ranking rule

Paid placement policy

Rankings and table ordering on this site are determined by published fee data only. No platform can pay to improve its position in a comparison table or to be featured more prominently in editorial content.

We do not offer sponsored placements, "featured platform" slots, or any form of paid positioning in editorial content. If this policy changes, it will be disclosed explicitly at the relevant location and on this page.

No personalised recommendation policy

This site does not provide personalised financial advice or personalised investment recommendations. Specifically:

  • We do not tell readers which platform they should use.
  • We do not frame fee data as a recommendation to any individual.
  • We do not use language like "we recommend," "the best platform for you," "ideal for [investor type]," or equivalent framing that implies personalised suitability assessment.
  • We present fee data to help readers understand the cost structure of different platforms. What readers do with that data is their decision.

This site is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority to provide financial advice. Nothing on this site constitutes financial advice. We are an information and comparison resource only.

If you need advice on which investment platform is right for you, you should consult a financial adviser authorised by the FCA.
